People have been asking about the stinky water for days now. There is a noticeable smell, and even though we'll certainly be told that it's safe to drink, people are now needing to rely on filtration to have water that smells and tastes good. This shouldn't be the standard, but unfortunately it is, because we keep allowing developers to build in the Lake Manatee watershed. And with the Wetlands regulations gutted, there's even less protection for our drinking water.

Stinky water every summer shouldn't be the standard. Our water should give people confidence that it's safe to drink it. We need to stop aggravating the conditions that cause algae to grow in our water.

As your District 1 County Commissioner , I will vote against anything that is going to jeopardize our water quality. No more building in our watershed, close to our drinking sources. No new mining permits.
