Carol Felts

Carol Ann Felts is a native 8th-generation Floridian.  Originally from the Miami area, Carol settled in Manatee County over 30 years ago.  She is seeking the Republican nomination for Manatee County Commission District 1, which spans from northwest Manatee County, including parts of Palmetto to Parrish and East County.

Carol is a committed community activist who has been actively engaged in local government for several years.  She has been the most vocal and visible advocate for Myakka and East County, often appearing before the County Commission to voice the needs of East County residents about development issues and other issues affecting Manatee County citizens.  She has also stridently advocated for better communication and engagement between the county government and local citizens.

She has continually sought to educate herself and her fellow citizens about how local governance works, often appearing at town halls to ask questions of our elected representatives.  She is also a current member of the Manatee County Environmental Lands Management and Acquisition Committee (ELMAC), a citizen advisory board that advises the County Commission about land purchases for conservation.  Additionally, Carol is an Army mom and is sensitive to veterans' concerns.

Carol has previously run for office as well, learning more about how our local electoral system works.  But if elected, she will be a tireless advocate for transparency, accountability and civic engagement.
